The grid queue is the real shortage
Hyperscale projects in the Netherlands, Ireland and Germany sit in connection queues measured in years. New capacity lands wherever grid headroom happens to exist, which is rarely where policy wants it. Cooling water and local opposition tighten the squeeze further.
A site that can offer power, cooling and permits in one place is scarce, and it is getting scarcer every quarter.
Put the compute where the power lands
If the onshore queue is the problem, the answer is to build compute next to dedicated offshore generation and route dense fibre to it, skipping the queue entirely.
Sovereign hosting, on clean power the project controls, under European law, is the core of the Atlantis Digital mandate. It sits directly on the capacity Atlantis Energy would develop, which is why the two are planned as one system instead of two procurement exercises.
